Creating Floral Styling for a pastel linen
The Fringe Festival in August 2025 has been a milestone for us. I had the chance to join the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, presenting my Asian-inspired floral design in my very first micro-exhibition and pop-up floral stall.

The Fringe is more than just an art event; it’s a space where art, culture, and community connect. For me, it was the perfect stage to showcase Thai and East Asian floral traditions infused with the creative energy of the United Kingdom.

I exhibited Floral Reef & Co’s micro-exhibition at Greyfriars Kirkyard, a place deeply tied to Scottish heritage and a must-visit for anyone coming to Edinburgh. The site is famously linked to J.K. Rowling’s inspiration for the name Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter, making it both historically and culturally significant.

My stall was part of an event organised by the Edinburgh Hong Kong Organisation, which made it even more meaningful, a Thai floral artist with Chinese roots presenting work in a Hong Kong-led event, set inside one of Scotland’s most iconic churches. It felt like a true bridge of cultures: East meeting West, connected through flowers, community, and art.

Participating in the Fringe reaffirmed why Floral Reef & Co exists: to bridge cultures through flowers and design. My concept was to represent Asian floral design in dialogue with Western aesthetics. I drew inspiration from objects such as Scandinavian vases and British fabric patterns, symbols of Western craft that harmonised with my Eastern floral philosophy. I worked with seasonal summer blooms like freesia, gypsophila, and more, experimenting with ikebana-inspired tall forms.

This experience has anchored our creative direction and marked a memorable chapter in our journey. Being part of the Fringe not only expanded our exposure but also strengthened our commitment to telling stories through flowers, stories that connect cultures and transcend borders.
